Blogging just got easier with Windows Live Writer

Published by gilachess at 6:09 pm under Blogging tools Edit This

One of my favourite tools discovered this year is Windows Live Writer.live-writer.jpg The funny thing is that it is a Microsoft product and I usually am not a fan of Microsoft’s bloatware and ugly web editors like FrontPage that spews out extransous and useless HTML. However this is one exception where I actually give praises to Mickey$oft. They actually got it right this time.Microsoft Live Writer is not only free but a very useful blogging application.

With Live Writer I no longer have to log in the web administration page to edit or post new articles. The great thing about it is it works with just about any blog platform. Wordpress, Blogspot and free accounts on WordPress.com all can be administered via Live Writer.I save a lot of time as creating a post with Live Writer is so much faster. I like the fact that I don’t have to waste time uploading a picture. I can just paste it in the editor and know exactly how the article will look like. After all is finished I just click on the “Publish” button. What could be simpler?

Another fantastic feature is I can write drafts, complete with pictures and save them for later posting. I’ve configured my Live Writer to remember over 20 of my blog accounts and switching between any of my accounts is a snap. No more logging separately to post to different blogs. I now do it in one place - Live Writer.

Needless to say all this is a huge time saver for me.My only regret is that it seems that Live Writer does not work with my Today.com account. Today.com runs on a modified WordPress platform. There may be a way yet and I may not have figured it out. :) This is one of the few blog post I have made without Live Writer.
